As the global population ages, the prevalence of chronic oral and systemic diseases such as periodontal diseases, bone loss diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders continues to rise. Stem cells, with their regenerative potential, present a promising avenue for addressing aging-related chronic conditions and developing novel therapeutic strategies. Our lab is dedicated to deciphering the regulatory mechanisms of stem cells in aging and relevant disease progression. By integrating cutting-edge nanotechnology, chemical engineering, biomaterials and advanced imaging techniques, we aim to bridge fundamental scientific discoveries with potential clinical applications. Our major goal is to develop innovative therapeutic approaches that can transform the treatment of aging-related chronic diseases. Our research lab is located in the new Comprehensive Research and Education Building within the School of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.
